LMK student stars in “Nine” at Westchester Broadway Theatre The phrases “drive to succeed” and “that kid has talent” apply to Louis M. Klein Middle School (LMK) seventh-grader Troy Tripicchio. The young aspiring actor is currently performing in “Nine” at the Westchester Broadway Theatre. Troy, 13, is playing one of Young Guido’s classmates in the show. “Nine” is about a famous Italian film director who just turned 40 facing two crises; he has to shoot a film and can’t write the script, and his wife of 20 years is leaving him. Troy appears in the flashback scenes where his character gets into trouble and recalls the memories of the filmmaker’s past.“This play is really easy for me,” Troy said. “I love theater and working with the other actors. We are from all over Westchester and we tell interesting stories about what is going on in our towns.” Troy stated that he cannot explain in words what it is like to be onstage, simply using the phrase: “I love it!” He has benefited from the chorus program he participates in at LMK. “I love singing and music because it makes me happy,” Troy said. “When I’m feeling down I sing a song and I feel much better.” Troy has been acting since he was a toddler. Originally from New Rochelle, Troy performed at several shows at George M. Davis Elementary before transferring to Parsons Memorial School when his family moved to Harrison. Troy caught the acting bug when he saw his brother perform in a play. Troy has performed with the Westchester Dreamcoats based in Thornwood. In the Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” Troy portrayed Tiny Tim. He also appeared as Young Cosmo in “Singing in the Rain” which earned him a nomination for the Helen Hayes Award as best child actor. “I remember opening night and looking into the audience and not believing it was actually happening,” Troy said. “I would rather perform in front of a million people I don’t know rather than in front of two people I know.” ![]() Troy considers himself lucky to be in plays. He added that the adults in the cast have been nurturing, supportive and have taught him a great deal. Troy recently auditioned for an upcoming movie called “Real Steel” starring Hugh Jackman. An honor student at LMK, he is planning on attending Harrison High School and performing in every play they give him an opportunity to perform in. “It is challenging with my schoolwork and has taken away from my social life but I love it too much,” Troy said. Troy is the son of John and Donna Tripicchio. “Nine” is playing at the Westchester Broadway Theatre until April 24.
